[Letter from the Aro Lineage Lamas:]
Dear apprentices of the Confederate Sanghas of Aro,
This is an extremely sad time for the gö kar chang lo’i dé – and for us personally. It is with the deepest regret that we have to inform you of the passing of Lama Tharchin Rinpoche. He was a dear friend of ours. He was also a great inspiration and support to us. We have known him since 1990. He has visited our home in Penarth and we have shared many joyful meals together at Pema ’ö-Sel Ling.
If you have a spiritual connection to Lama Tharchin Rinpoche, this is a time for Lama’i Naljor. The Lama doesn’t ever pass. The Lama is always in the present. So please practise whatever form of Lama’i Naljor you can.
As the Lineage Holders of the Aro gTér – we ask you all to practise whichever yidam you currently practise the most – or Yeshé Tsogyel mantra alternating with 7 Line Song (to the melody of the Flight of the Vulture). Lama Tharchin Rinpoche loved this vajra melody. He was the Lineage Holder of the Repkong Ngakpa Lineage – and one of the last gö kar chang lo Lama to have been trained in Tibet. With Lama Tharchin Rinpoche’s passing an age of the world is also passing. It will not be long now before all the gö kar chang lo Lamas trained in Tibet have gone. Kyabjé Chatral Rinpoche is now over 100 years old – and there can be few others left.
At this time – please forget all other issues for a while and turn your minds to the gö kar chang lo lineages – and to Padmasambhava and Yeshé Tsogyel who established them. This is a time for setting aside mundane concerns and devoting time to practice.
Please keep the memory of Lama Tharchin Rinpoche in your hearts for 49 days and make sure that whatever you do in the period of time accords as perfectly with Vajrayana as lies within your capacity.
We send our best wishes to you all – wherever you are at this time.
Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen
